Daniela Engel-Braun

grew up in the region of Zurich in Switzerland. From 2013 – 2018 she studied at the Hochschule Luzern – Musik in the clarinet class of Paolo Beltramini and completed her Bachelor of Arts in Music and Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy both with distinction.

Afterwards she deepened her studies with Prof. Laura Ruiz Ferreres at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main.

From 2019 - 2021 she studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo in the clarinet class of Björn Nyman and graduated successfully with her Master of Music Performance .

To complement her education, she attended master classes with Yehuda Gilad, Hermann Stefansson, François Benda, Kilian Herold, Martin Fröst, Harri Mäki and others.

As chamber and orchestra musician she plays in the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra & Academy, Miami Music Festival Orchestra, Zermatt Festival Academy, Festival Orchestra Höri Musiktage, Norwegian National Youth Orchestra, Nordic Orchestra Academy, Kammerphilharmonie Frankfurt, Internationale Junge Orchesterakademie and different projects.

Since 2022 she plays in "ensemble fokus“ (woodwind quintet) and „Dissolution Ensemble“ (ensemble for contemporary music). Since 2023 in her new „Trio Lys“ (clarinet, cello and piano).

Daniela Braun is awardee of the Fritz Gerber Awards 2021 of the Lucerne Festival and Fritz-Gerber-Foundation and winner of the 2nd Prize of the of the Concours National d’Exécution Musicale in Riddes 2016.

With her ensemble fokus she is prize winner of the „I. Kammermusikwettbewerb Paul Juon“ 2023 des Förderkreis Kammermusik Schweiz und der Paul Juon Gesellschaft.

She works as a freelance musician and teaches at different music schools in the Region of Zürich.
